“Oftentimes, Shannen’s contributions to the show get forgotten or they somehow get minimized.”
The actor was unable to attend the conference due to her recent cancer diagnosis.
Perry added that he was incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside her in the series.
“I love him and he knows I love him and I am in contact,” she said.
Unfortunately, Perry never recovered.
He died a few days later, at the age of just 52.
The “Mallrats” star also extended her condolences to Perry’s family and loved ones.
As she informed People in 2019, “Luke and I were working on show ideas for us.
Happily, it was like their connection never waned.
The former co-stars went out for lunch together, blissfully unaware of what was about to happen.
“I walked in and there he was, smiling,” Doherty recalled toPeople.
Despite her initial reluctance to star on the show, Doherty did it for Perry.
“I felt like it was a great opportunity to honor him.”
Likewise, she appeared in “Riverdale” to pay tribute to him too.
