Meade has long used her platform to amplify nonprofit organizations.
In June 2017, she wrote about child food insecurity in the United States forCNN Health.
Meade noted that the cause is especially close to her heart because her father experienced poverty while growing up.
“Dad says families, including his own, ate what they grew,” she wrote.
As a result, there seemed to be a dependable supply of something to eat."
