Things have seemingly gotten more difficult for Schafer since the start of Donald Trump’s administration.

This sort of difficulty is tragically something Schafer has faced throughout her life.
“I was really starting to fade when I was approaching puberty,” Schafer shared with the publication.
“And I think it became obvious to the people around me.
Thankfully that was enough to get the help I needed to start transitioning.
Depression has been something I’ve wrestled with.
It never really goes away.
You just figure out how to live with it, live a life with it.
And I’m on meds now, which are great.”
