Harris met Kagan as a teenager and became fast friends due to shared experiences.
“We were both from biracial families in a new school,” Kagan toldABC 7.
“We were trying to find our way, so the easiest way was finding it together.”
She then returned to the U.S. for university, which kickstarted Harris’impressive career before politics.
“[Kamala] knew something was wrong, and I told her when I was in high school.
In high school, I found out my best friend was being molested by her father.
Kagan went on to become a philanthropist and public speaker.
She also named her daughter afterHarris' sister, Maya.
